Medicinal Plants in the
Philippine Cordillera Region

Preserving the traditional knowledge on medicinal plants is vital especially from a rich and diverse location such as the Cordillera region. With the few existing documentation on ethnomedicinal data and the shift to western medicine, traditional knowledge on how plants are being used as medicines may be irretrievably lost if not captured and stored in a centralized repository. This website allows easy access to gathered information of ethnomedicinal plants within the Cordillera. Browse through the pages to know more about these plants.

The information found in this site comes from the herbarium specimens of the University of the Philippines Baguio Herbarium. These specimens were gathered from field works done over the years. The data on ethnomedicine are primarily sourced from interviews conducted with the local people where sample plants were gathered. Information collected include the local name, location, ethnomedicinal use, plant part and procedure of using the plant for medicine.
