About CAR-TLDC Project 3

Conceptualized and proposed in 2018, the Online Database System for the Medicinal Plants in the Cordillera (DMPC) was approved as a separate project, which is one of the six projects under the CAR-Tuklas Lunas Development Consortium funded by the DOST-PCHRD. Commencing in 2019, the project started by digitizing information existing in the UP Baguio Herbarium which is the main source of information. After roughly two years of development, DMPC is now a repository of traditional knowledge on medicinal plants that are used by the people living in the Cordillera Administrative Region, Philippines. This website aims to make the information on traditional medicinal knowledge of plants accessible to the public. There are features in this site that makes it user-friendly such as the search function that allows retrieval of plants (and also in the forums page) using keywords entered. An interactive map also provides a visualization of the distribution of these medicinal plants throughout the region. More importantly, it also aims to serve as a venue for discussion on these traditional uses of plants through the forum page. Users are encouraged to share their own traditional knowledge on the plants to add to the database.
