About the Cordillera Administrative Region


The Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) is composed of the provinces of Abra, Apayao, Benguet, Kalinga, Ifugao, and Mt. Province. It is surrounded by the provinces of Ilocos Norte and Cagayan in the north, Cagayan Valley in the east, Pangasinan and Nueva Vizcaya in the south, and it is bounded in the west by Ilocos Sur.

CAR has 76 municipalities and 2 cities. It has a land area of 18,293.70 square kilometers of mostly mountainous terrain. There are numerous ethnic groups who inhabit the region, collectively known as Igorots.
